Italy suffer Panucci scare, Defender doubtful for Holland clash

Christian Panucci could be doubtful for Italy’s Euro 2008 opener after limping out of training on Friday.
The veteran full-back picked up a suspected knee injury in a two-touch game as he went down all on his own, without any contact from another player.
Director of communications Antonello Valentini stated that Panucci had left the session as a precaution but the extent of the problem remains unclear.
Coach Roberto Donadoni will be desperate to have Panucci available for Italy’s game against Holland on Monday after captain Fabio Cannavaro was ruled out of the tournament.
Cannavaro damaged ankle ligaments on Monday and a second loss to the backline would be a severe blow for the world champions.
