Russia completed their Euro 2008 preparations with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Lithuania.

Guus Hiddink’s side geared up for Austria and Switzerland with a morale boosting win courtesy of goals from Konstantin Zyryanov, Andrei Arshavin, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Vladimir Bystrov.

They did not have it all their own way though, as Lithuania took an early and surprise lead through Mantas Savenas, when he broke past a creaky off-side trap before hitting the post and rifling in the rebound.

Zyryanov will be disappointed with a close range effort that failed to register, but not his strike in the 33rd minute that drew Russia level; a searing drive from just inside the box.

In the second period Russia’s superior class came to the fore as Arshavin, suspended for his country’s first two group games, netted after substitute Pavlyuchemko’s powerful shot from outside the box had been repelled into his path.

Diniyar Bilyaletdinov missed a penalty in shooting wide, after Sergei Ignashevich was fouled, before Pavlyuchenko made it 3-1 with an accurate effort from range.

Russia’s superiority was cemented late on when Bystrov scored the best goal of the night from the tightest of angles.
